2nd Graders, Spelling Bee, Band Concert and Writing in PE

We had a lot going on this week. Our band put on their concert for festival and they (and the choir) did a great job of entertaining us.
We also competed in the county spelling bee where our seventh grade team took 4th place and eighth grade took 3rd.
Today, Ms. Mooney's Ed2020 English Class invited their pen pals from the 2nd grade over to the building, first giving them a tour and then having a discussion about reading and writing. Ms. Mooney has been a teacher in the district for many years, but joined us here at Ross Beatty this year to start teaching seventh grade English. She has done a great job adapting to the older students, many of whom she has known for years from the other buildings. Her lessons, which include this field trip for the second graders is just one of the reasons we are lucky to have her on our staff!
Finally, Mr. Purlee is showing off his PE class, not playing badminton or basket ball, but writing an essay, something every class does. Even though physical education is an important part of the curriculum, communication is just as important and every student spends some time writing essays in every class. Skills only improve with practice and Mr.. Purlee is helping his students improve all kinds of skills. Thank goodness we have him as our teacher.

Math Focus

I can use data to find the mean, median and mode. The mean is also called the average. The median is called the middle number. The mode is the number that occurs the most.
