Mr. Mourning and Mrs. Widerquist-Bosler

The two teachers I am highlighting today are Mr. Mourning and Ms. Widerquist-Bosler.
Mr. Mourning graduated from Cassopolis High School and has taught in the district for 15 years. He teaches 8th grade and high school social studies and coaches junior high school football and basketball. He's a homegrown product of this district with deep roots in the community, even his mom works in the district!
I love to visit Mr. Mourning's classroom. His love of his subject comes through in everything he teaches. He creates stories around each lesson, connects what he says to the student's lives and makes history relevant. Students are captivated by what he has to say because the colonial boy or girl he is speaking about is really not that different than the students in his class, and each one of them knows it.
Ms. Widerquist-Bosler is a resource room teacher, and she has had an exciting year. Resource room is a new concept for Cassopolis, but it seems to be very popular with the students. Another Cassopolis graduate, she and the team has had to develop this class, determine how to grade it and decide what it means to the students. All this and she has only been teaching full-time for two years!
The resource room allows students to receive additional assistance for the most challenging aspects of a student's class while taking every core class with their peers. We are proud of her, what she has done, and her dedication to our students.

Math Focus

I can use data to find the mean, median and mode. The mean is also called the average. The median is called the middle number. The mode is the number that occurs the most.

English Focus

I can summarize and paraphrase what I read by putting it in my own words.
