Homecoming Part 2 and World Literature

Although Homecoming was great, and there are plenty of pictures and video of the parade and the fun we had, the business of education continues. This weeks spotlight is on Mrs. Herwick's World Literature class. This Junior level class can earn the students either Indiana University credit or Southwestern Michigan College credit and acts as a prerequisite for our senior level class, Advanced Placement English. Both credits transfer to colleges and universities all over the country, and the students are able to receive it without ever leaving the building.

As you can see, the students spend a lot of time both reading and writing in this class. Mrs. Herwick uses her classroom, computer labs and the library to stretch them any way she can. This building and educational community is very lucky to have her and we very proud of the learning her students are able to do and the credits they earn. The students must think so too because this class is at maximum capacity and beyond. Besides teaching her regular classes, Mrs. Herwick is the English Department Head and the Senior Class Advisor (which means she helps design graduation). What a great educator!
